Last week, we enjoyed an amazing dinner at the new Chi Lin by Iron Chef alum, Chef Tyson Wong. It’s located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, right next to RivaBella & across the street from Soho House & BOA Steakhouse. Chi Lin offers an upscale, refined Hong Kong dining experience set in a magical venue. The walls are brilliantly illuminated by real butterflies while the ceiling is covered in whimsical glowing lanterns resulting in a romantically lit restaurant without the need to squint. Service was impeccable but I wouldn’t expect any less from an IDG restaurant, and our entire 10 course feast was absolutely delicious. My favorite dishes were the Kale Salad, flavorful and surprisingly tender, Scallion Pancakes with Braised Short Ribs, rich and crunchy, Black Pepper Scallops, bold with an excellent crust and texture, Peking Duck, perfectly crisp with the fluffiest tortilla-like crepes, and the Lychee Bread Pudding, delectably decadent and replacing the typical raisins with lychee was genius! We also thoroughly enjoyed the hand crafted, spice infused cocktails. I’d return in a heartbeat – hands down, the go-to restaurant for Chinese cuisine with an upscale dining experience.
