Trending Underneath: Oxblood

Oxblood Underneath: Honeydew’s Rayon Bralette in Red Velvet, Emma Elegance Bralette in Jinx, and Heathered Tank in Red Velvet

I visited the Honeydew headquarters a couple weeks ago and fell in love with the idea of keeping things fashionable underneath. I’ve always been the type of girl to stick with black or nude intimates but the idea of having a fun trend peaking through the ubiquitous sheer blouse or muscle tank is just too much fun not to venture into. While I was touring their warehouse and chatting with Honeydew’s Design Director, she asked me what my favorite trend was and I immediately responded with an overzealous “Oxblood!” but can you really blame me? I’ve been obsessed with anything oxblood since I purchased this TopShop Peplum Skirt in Vegas back in July. I also shared it as my favorite upcoming Fall trend in this intro hangout I did with the LA Fashion Bloggers on Google+. Luckily for me, Honeydew is on top of all the current and upcoming trends so they had plenty of oxblood inspired pieces! These three are my favorites, especially the Emma Elegance Bralette; the colors are so vibrant and rich while the fabrics, perfectly soft and comfortable.

Sachin + Babi SS13

For me, previewing collections is almost more fun than watching them on the runway because you get to see the pieces up close and personal, touch and feel the different textures, see how beautifully detailed they are and sometimes, you get to meet the designers themselves, too. Being married and also having the opportunity to work with and alongside my husband, I love seeing power couples who share and compliment each others talents; so, meeting the couple behind the brand, Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia, was so inspiring! Sachin + Babi’s Spring 2013 collection was beautiful on the runway but in person, it was even more jaw-dropping. Getting a chance to see the incredible knitted and distressed details, feel the mix of fabrics, unique appliques and embroidery made the collection all the more memorable. Choosing my favorite pieces to show was virtually impossible because every piece was so gorgeous and wearable – which is why I ended up with a dozen to share with you guys, above, and I’m still thinking about the looks I didn’t post because I kind of feel like I should just add them in, too 🙂 see all the looks here. Earlier this week, I received this gorgeous silk ruffle dress from White Sands, an Australian fashion label. I love the bold, high contrast zebra print and I’m always a sucker for anything ruffly – plus the silk fabric is so light and soft! I decided to mix up the textures by pairing it with this old chunky knit open cardigan, rose gold jewelry that I’ve been dying to wear, and these oxblood OTK boots for a fun Fall look.

The mister and I were in San Diego last week for a business meeting and happened to pass by our old private gated community along the way. So, what did we do? Snuck in, of course 🙂 it was so much fun reminiscing about our lives there. It was only about two years ago, yet it felt like a completely different lifetime; a past life. It’s so funny looking back at my old blog posts, seeing my outfit photos of the same poses on the same set of stairs when this beautiful background was right there just a couple steps away, too. Why the heck didn’t we take advantage of the scenery?!
