This past weekend, we went on a double date with my best friend, April and her boyfriend Kirk to the Formula Drift Championships Round 7 Title Fight. Wait, this is a fashion blog, right? I know, I know… even worse, I barely got any good outfit pictures 🙁 …it’s pretty hard to try to get your husband to take a decent picture when there are cars flying by sideways at 100mph lol especially when he’s a car guy. C’est la vie!
This is nothing new to me, actually aside from family and close friends, a lot of people may not know that a large chunk of my life has been spent immersed in the car industry almost as much as fashion. See, while my about me describes my Mom as always being such a strong fashion inspiring fixture in my life, my Dad is the masculine, adrenaline, fast cars, motorcycles and other manly activities enthusiast lol 😀 total opposites! You know those cute plastic pink push around cars for toddlers? I used to take my Dad’s hand tool sets and tear mine completely apart into dozens of tiny parts only to put it back together again immediately afterwards – all this as a toddler! My Dad isn’t just into cars, it’s his life. He is a 5x ASE Certified Master Technician (this is like the auto mechanic equivalent to a doctorate) and I spent almost 15 years of my life hanging out with him at his car shop, our auto repair. Basically, if I wasn’t out with my Mom at the mall shopping and trying on clothes, I was at our auto repair helping my Dad with adjusting spark plugs, smashing empty engine oil bottles and flying around on top of industrial hydraulic car jacks like they were razer scooters. If it weren’t for my Mom being so girly, I probably would have grown up a total tomboy. My brother, taking after my Dad, was always obsessed with fast cars and bikes, too. Having had multiple sponsored suped up cars, being featured in car magazines like Import Tuner and still spending a large chunk of his time on the tracks. Because of all of this, I know a lot more about cars than I let on – I can change my own tires and oil better than the typical guy can (and I have!) but my parents also taught me that although I can, it doesn’t mean I should. I can get down and dirty with cars, but I choose not to unless it’s an emergency. I’d rather leave the oil changing and tire swapping to the professionals. Like my husband always says, “Do what you do best and hire the rest.” 😉
Speaking of my husband, today is our 2nd wedding anniversary! We’ve been together for almost 7 years, now – wow, time flies when you’re having fun 🙂
We had so much fun at the event – seeing the cars drift so close together at ridiculous speeds up close and personal was awesome.
Hope everyone is having a great week! Don’t forget to enter my Bangstyle Giveaway!
