I’ve posted macarons many times before but none of them can even compare to the ones at Paulette’s. My Mom and I had been planning to check out ‘Lette’s for years now but just never got around to it. Since I moved up here to LA, my parents frequently visit and their last trip was the perfect opportunity for us to check out their Beverly Hills Location. Boy, are we glad we did. These little bites of heaven were mind-blowing. The flavor, texture, and just sheer beauty makes me want to twirl around like a ballerina. Seriously.

By the way, we’ve since then also tried out their Pasadena location. While it was a cute location with great variety of flavors, the Beverly Hills location still has a bigger selection.

My husband recently snatched up the September issue of Los Angeles Magazine featuring 51 of the best breakfast/brunch locations, which happens to be his favorite meal of the day. We’ve tried out a few of them and so far one of our favorites is Alcove Cafe. It’s located in the affluent area of Loz Feliz and nestled underneath beautiful trees on a quiet street. The decor is an eclectic mix of vintage silver pieces with a french cottage feel. The food – divine. I had the Crab Cake Benedict and just looking at the photos is making me salivate… PS the icing on the cake was their bar staffed with talented mixologist. The bartender there when we dined here created this delicious grapefruit brunch cocktail, picture below.

PS looks like it’s a landslide victory for the Lola’s! Thanks for everyone who voted 🙂 and to those who will (I’ll keep it open until I wear them lol)…

Wild Pair Lola – a shoe too sexy for its own good…

I’m torn. I fell in love with these Giuseppe Zanotti wanabes (which are sold out everywhere) and instantly ordered them from Bakers the other day. Do I love them? Very much so. The problem – I think they might just be too sexy for me. I’ve tried to wear them with various looks the past week (dresses, skirts, leggings) and every time, opted for a different pair of shoes because these looked too sexy (i.e. hootchie) for me to feel comfortable out in. I might as well strut around in clear heels… kidding!

I keep thinking I could get away with wearing them with leggings or jeans but even then, I think they still scream too much sex appeal to me. So help me out everyone! Take the poll at the bottom of this post, should I keep them or not?

The husband and I signed up for annual memberships to The Grammy Museum at LA Live a couple of weeks ago. Although I enjoy music, it’s not really something that I’m all that interested in. Blasphemy? For some, I’m sure. My husband on the other hand is actually really into music; he spent most of his youth DJ’ing events and parties. I guess you can say this is where “opposites attract” came into play in our relationship lol. So naturally, this was more for his entertainment than mine. To my surprise, I really enjoyed it! Aside from the plethora of different music history they showcased, they also displayed various outfits and costumes entertainers wore. This included famous costumes worn by Lady Gaga or Katy Perry and gorgeous gowns worn by the likes of Beyoncé and Barbara Streisand. Unfortunately, no photos were allowed inside 🙁 bummer…

Cognac Leather Love

We were heading to The Getty and as with any museum, lots of walking was anticipated, so I knew comfortable shoes would be a must. It’s very rare that you’ll spot me in flats unless I’m at the gym or throwing on sandals to run to the store (and even then, I prefer heels) so these ShoeDazzle Mulberry wedges were perfect to pair with these flowy skirt like shorts for the occasion. My husband’s friend once made a joke about how I’m known to be fashion before function. Although that can be true most days for me 😉 this look turned out cute and comfy 🙂 Score.

This bag by my good friend, Jeffrey Lazaro, is another perfect example of function. Its straps can be changed around to be worn as a clutch, shoulder bag or cross-body. It also reminds me that I need to find some cute cognac boots for fall. I absolutely love how cognac leather can bring life to any outfit. The color is so beautifully warm and rich.
