Baker’s Maddie Wedges, Lunch at Lemonade and Dinner at Bottega Louie

We’re finally back from NYC and settling back in, somewhat (I’ve unpacked one of the two luggage I brought lol, at least it’s progress!) I’m terrible at unpacking, I’ve left luggage untouched after trips for weeks at a time before… 🙁 but this time, I’m determined to finish unpacking today… I have quite a few posts from NYC but before those, I need to finish up my posts pre-vacation. Here we go…

I’ve been on a hunt for a cute pair of comfortable wedges for quite some time now. I was fooled by ShoeDazzle’s Ciji wedges – though super cute, they were super uncomfortable for me. I know many reviews out there rave about them but for me, they were stiff and hurt my toes, narrow and too high in the back where it would dig into the back of my ankles. No bueno. After trying many pairs, I was going to give up until Bakers had a special holiday deal on their wedges offering an extra 25% off. I instantly placed an order for NINE pairs of wedges. LOL 🙂 it was free shipping and you could return in store! Anyway, out of all the pairs I ordered, I kept the Lola’s and these Maddie wedges. Yes, the Maddie’s in every color available. Hey, they’re perfect, what can I say? They’re the perfect height, super comfy and such a cute shape that is the perfect balance between sexy and sweet.

My Mom was in town visiting us so knowing our mutual love for French macarons, I decided to take her to lunch at Lemonade in Beverly Hills. Along with their tasty drinks and delicious salads, they also have HUGE macarons that are just too outrageously cute to resist.

It ended up being a fun-macaron-filled day with dinner reservations at Bottega Louie. The food was delicious, ambiance up-beat, and dessert selection incredible. I think it’s a macaron tie between ‘Lette and Bottega Louie. Although, I still prefer most of ‘Lette’s flavours, Bottega Louie’s Salted Caramel Macaron was right up there with even Laduree, for me. Love love.

Zara – too close for comfort.

Okay, It’s never too close for comfort. While I’ve shopped at Zara many times in the past, it was always a rare occasion when I was near one. Now that I have 3 different Zara locations, within ten minutes from me, my bank account has definitely felt the wrath lol but really, I can’t live without any of my recent purchases, so it’s okay, right? 😛

    First Wedding Anniversary

On this day, one year ago, I married my very own prince charming. My Superman. The first wedding anniversary is supposed to be the “Paper Anniversary” so it was fitting and really, perfect, that our wedding was chosen amongst hundreds of entries to be featured in the 2011/2012 issue of San Diego Style Weddings Magazine. If you’re in the area, grab a copy! It’s on newsstands now 🙂

I’ve been over blazers lately; the many I have had been sitting in the closet collecting dust. Of course, part of it was the weather. They’re not exactly pleasant to wear in LA’s 80 degree weather in the summer lol. Still though, even when it’s been cold lately and especially in the evenings, I’ve steered clear of them. Maybe I just wore them too much last fall/winter/spring? Anyway, while shopping the other day I stumbled upon this gorgeous herringbone jacket at H&M – maybe it was the elbow patches, I’ve had a weakness for them in the past, or perhaps my love for herringbone anything, but it instantly brought my love for structured jackets back in full force.

BTW this Aldo clutch is old, I’ve had it for years now, but everything else is recent and still available in stores <3

    Packing for NYC

photo taken when I was about 75% done packing 🙂 lol

We’ll be on vacation in NYC this week and next so if you don’t see comments and responses from me, I apologize in advance… I do have a bunch of posts scheduled though so as to not disappoint you guys! Probably more posts than I usually do anyway – weird. Apparently I’m overcompensating for being away lol!!

Last time we travelled to NYC, it was just a couple of months before we got engaged in Fall of 2008. It was also when my then boyfriend (now husband) bought me the best souvenir to date; my very first pair of Christian Louboutins at the Louboutin boutique on Horatio Street in Greenwich Village. The Decollette 868 100 Glittart Pumps. It’s crazy looking back at our first trip and seeing how young we were. It’s been 3 years since and now we are traveling during the same time of year, married and celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary in the Big Apple.

It was also during this trip in ’08 where I realized I needed to bring extra luggage space with me. When we were there, I ended up buying a brand new Diane von Furstenberg set of luggage (carry-on + check-in) for our trip back home – shopping too much? Maybe. LOL I don’t plan to shop that much again this trip, of course… but I must admit, I’m a little bit excited that my husband is bringing a check-in bag this time as well. He’s one of those “I can fit everything I need in my carry-on” type of guys so I know he won’t fill his up 😉

    All packed up!

I normally don’t plan out what I wear – it usually depends on my mood, so packing for me is typically throwing whatever I have that’s laundered and ready, into my suitcases. I figure it out when I’m there. This usually works when we go places like Vegas or for our honeymoon last year to Hawaii (bikini’s, shorts, tanks and maxi dresses were easy to throw together). However, going to Manhattan is a different story. It’s going to be freezing and when it comes to packing coats and boots, every bit of space counts so the last thing I want to do (and what usually happens) is bring a bunch of stuff I don’t even end up unfolding. I decided to plan out my looks in advance. I looked at the days we’ll be there and guesstimate on what I’d want to wear (whether or not I’d need a different look come evening time for dinner or drinks etc). Then I took my list of looks (i.e. casual site-seeing or dressy dinner) and built outfits around it. I took pictures of each look before folding them up and then labelled them on the computer as I saw fit. Now, this is really exciting for me lol I’m curious to see if it will save me time and if I’ll really follow through with the looks. I have a bad feeling I’ll end up tearing the outfits apart and putting together completely different looks… again, depending on my mood. We’ll see…

*Okay, I use the term “freezing” loosely. We’re from southern California so to us, the 50-60 degree F weather expected in NYC is freezing. We’re wimps, I know.
