Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

I had to check my instagram to see when the last time I went to the gym was – it’s that bad. The first step is admitting you have a problem, right? 😉 It’s time to get back into the swing of things and my tried and true method to re-inspire myself has always been with… what else but, pretty new things!

The thought of working out again after taking a long break can be daunting, especially knowing how sore you’ll inevitably be the days after. I’m easing into it by adding this chic Yuni Chillax rollerball to my gym bag. It’s packed with their plant-based gel that soothes and relaxes muscles. One of the primary ingredients is Arnica which is a natural herb and flower that contains anti-inflammatory properties. My husband Chris has actually been a huge fan of it – he’s super athletic so we’re always trying new creams and ointments and found Arnica-based products the most effective on sore muscles and bruises. Coincidentally, while looking up the link to my yummy fresh mango sunscreen by COOLA, I found out that it also contains Arnica! The ant-inflamitory properties help calm down redness in your skin while the other ingredients hydrate and tones your skin. It’s SPF 50, non-greasy, 70% certified organic, and it really smells absolutely delicious!

Are there any new fitness products that you’re loving lately?

I’ve been living in this unisex hoodie from Hudson lately! It’s SO soft on the inside with just the right androgynous cut. Do you have any favorite borrowed from the boys or unisex closet staples?

Edit to add: I should note that although it could be worn as a dress, I’m actually wearing denim shorts underneath that you can’t see in these photos. For fellow shoppers 🙂 I’m 5’3″ for reference!

    Neutrogena | $39.99

Neutrogena’s new Light Therapy Acne Treatment Mask brings the dermatologist in-office acne technology to the comfort of your own home. This face mask is supposed to clear acne and allow skin to heal itself with light therapy. I’ve had a chance to enjoy a few light therapy facials before so I was so excited to spot this at CVS and a similar treatment at home! Using both blue and red lights to targets acne-causing bacteria and reduce acne inflammation, this mask can make getting your acne under control easier! By the way, it’s also chemical free and UV free!

Nothing has ever kept my curls in quite as well as hot rollers do, so when I heard about T3’s new Luxe Volumizing Hot Rollers, I could barely contain my excitement! Their newly enhanced roller set is made to add volume and textured waves while keeping your hair shiny and looking healthy! The velvet flocking grips with no tangles and adds shine to your hair. It also comes with 8 clips and a chic travel case to house all of it in! Can you tell that I’m pretty stoked to get a chance to try it out? 😉

    Flirt | $28.00

This awesome little gadget from Flirt called the Flashes Lash Applicator is like a stapler for your false lashes! I know, I know – it sounds crazy and I was a skeptic, too. It is super impressive, though! This new beauty tool dispenses individual lash buds and actually makes it so easy to apply onto your lash line. Now, I do consider myself a pro at falsies but I love that you can use this to add more lash buds to customize a set you’re already wearing and I also think it’s such a fun, easy to use tool for novices!

Wake up the next morning with puffy eyes or dark circles after a stressful day? I know I do! Bella Schneider Beauty’s Beauty Globes are like magical wands. I like running them under cold water or popping them into the fridge to make them nice and cool. You can roll them around your eyes and it immediately starts to calm down your puffy eyes and fade away dark circles. I also love to use them to give myself a lymphatic facial massage which helps with my allergies, sinus pressure and congestion as well as that groggy jet lag feeling!

    Vera Mona | $14.00

This CAKE & BAKEℱ Beauty Sponge is one of the newest sponge innovations on the market and it’s amazing for contour and baking! I love accentuate my cheekbones by using it to highlight under my cheek contour and the straight edges also make it ideal for a perfect nose contour! It can be used dry as is or wet for cream applications like foundation but I personally like using it for baking.

Have you tried any new, innovative products?

A hidden feature of The Peninsula is L’Oiseau Blanc (also known as The White Bird). With a mysterious story, it’s the centerpiece and inspiration for the namesake restaurant, L’Oiseau Blanc, located on the 6th floor. With stunning views of Paris, the aviation themed L’Oiseau Blanc is one of the most chic restaurants in Paris.

    peninsula-paris-artwork

With the property’s history dating all the way back to 1864, The Peninsula restored many of the original artwork throughout the building. “Revival of The Interior’s Beauty And Soul Architects and Designers hired French master craftsmen utilising traditional techniques in use for hundreds of years to participate in the hotel’s revival of soul and authenticity. Marble, stucco, mosaics, roof and wall tiles, wood carvings, stone work, gold leafing, paintings and a myriad of other elements have been lovingly preserved and painstakingly restored by some of France’s most revered family firms, dating back generations. For example, the two paintings on the ceiling of Le Lounge KlĂ©ber- representing music and science and geography respectively – were restored by Cinzia Pasquali, who has restored paintings by Leonardo da Vinci at the Louvre, and also the Palace of Versailles. In Le Lobby and Le Bar KlĂ©ber, a total of 1000 individual pieces of wood were removed from the original building to undergo restoration and re-installation by wood restoration experts Atelier Fancelli, a small family company stretching back three generations and with just 12 employees. In addition, 20,000 pieces of gold leaf, were used in the restoration of The Peninsula Paris. Specialist gilder and restorer Ateliers Gohard – another tri-generation family company with just 20 employees – handled repairs, gold leafing and hand painting. Today, the results of this labour of love are palpable and can be felt as one wanders in the hotel, as well as the soul and spirit of the original building.” Read more about their restoration here.

The historic room where The Paris Peace Accords, which ended the Vietnam War, were signed in 1973, is now the beautiful Le Bar KlĂ©ber. Gilded ceilings, rich in history, meet a stunning collection of fine wines, Champagnes, spirits and international whiskies. It’s a beautiful, intimate venue to enjoy their delicious craft cocktails. There is also a discreet cigar lounge, for those interested.

Couples massages and the Balneotherapy Treatment at The Peninsula Spa were probably the highlight of our trip and the perfect solution to the jet-lag we were experiencing. “This luxuriously appointed, 1,800 sq m (19,000 sq ft) area within the hotel allows guests to refresh and revitalise body and mind. A streamlined design, dotted with plant and mineral notes, exudes an immediate sensation of well-being, refinement and luxury; all key concepts at The Spa at The Peninsula Paris, and of every Peninsula Spa worldwide. […] Boasting a 65 ft indoor pool, two Jacuzzis, eight private treatment booths including two suites for couples, a relaxation room as well as two fitness rooms equipped with state-of-the-art machines, The Peninsula Spa offers a relaxation experience unlike any other, in the heart of the City of Light. The interior design and furnishings incorporate traditional, eastern elements and contemporary elegance and offer a refined blend of harmonious tones and materials to soothe the soul, such as wood, granite and marble.” Read more about their luxury spa here.

The Peninsula also features Cantonese cuisine prepared by award-winning Hong Kong chefs at the Michelin Starred, LiLi. The Chinese meets French decor is absolutely captivating and their menu features sophisticated classic seasonal dishes as well as an elegant Chinese tea collection. I’ll be salivating over their Peking Duck service until our next trip back to Paris!
