Foodie Hotel Luxury Tokyo - Japan

    The Peninsula Tokyo

Afternoon Tea at The Peninsula Tokyo

We had the opportunity to enjoy The Peninsula Hotel during our trip to Tokyo and experience their incredible Afternoon Tea as well as an indulgent dinner at Peter. This gorgeous luxury hotel is located in the Marunouchi business district, opposite the Imperial Palace and Hibiya Park. It’s also just a short walk to Ginza, where you’ll find your Chanel & Hermes shopping heaven. Of course, that aspect alone was pulling at my heart strings! 😉

    PETER
Perched on the 24th floor of The Peninsula Tokyo, Peter offers an absolutely stunning view of Tokyo’s sparkly city lights! It’s definitely a must see. The view is equally as breathtaking during the day if you happen to be there for lunch. We enjoyed an impeccable Japanese A5 Wagyu dinner with the perfect wine pairings. The restaurant is the ideal setting for an elegant date night or business meeting, leaving you feeling like you’re on top of the world!

    Peninsula in Pink
An annual event since 2010, all of The Peninsula Hotels across Asia, Europe & America will show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month with special events and pink-themed amenities, donating proceeds to local breast cancer charities. At The Peninsula Tokyo, staff members will be adorned with specially commissioned pink ribbon pins while the hotel florals will be decked out in pink as well. The highlight this year is their collaboration with Chen Man, China’s most celebrated avant-garde photographer and multimedia artist! The Peninsula Tokyo will become a shining pink beacon with all sides of their 100-meter exterior illuminated in pink. If you’ll be in Tokyo next month, make sure to stop by and check it out! It’s definitely making me consider a last minute trip just to see this beauty! I know it’s going to be such a beautiful site to see!

Special thanks to The Peninsula Tokyo for spoiling us!

Casual - Everyday Style Edgy Tokyo - Japan

    Shibuya & Shinjuku

Chris and I always try to take the time to reflect on our favorite parts of trips and have found that one of the highlights of traveling for us is getting to immerse ourselves in the culture. Our unexpected must-do is always visiting the produce markets to see what locals buy, how they shop and picking up fun snacks without a clue what they are! We’re not really ones for historic places – not that we don’t like them (we actually spend a lot of our Netflix/Amazon time watching historic documentaries!) – there’s just something about the thousands of other tourists around us at those “must see” spots that we personally find too distracting for us to enjoy when traveling. Of course, many people do enjoy seeing those places and there are great landmarks to visit (I hear Mount Fuji is incredible!) but it really depends on what kind of traveler you are – everyone’s different! Over the years, we’ve realized that we truly love learning more about the pop culture – what the locals do, where they eat, shop and find entertainment! Don’t get me wrong, these places also get tons of tourists (after all, we are tourists, too) but it’s different from being mixed in with the locals and being completely surrounded by fellow tourists with not a single local in sight, you know? 😉 but I digress… we loved doing the Shibuya Scramble, running across the notorious Shibuya Crossing cross walk that endures half a million pedestrians a day… or wandering the streets of Shinjuku, drinking vending machine beers or munching on yakitori from little huts down dark alleys (Memory Lane/Piss Alley) and falling head over heels for the cutest hidden neighborhoods like Kagurazaka and Daikan-yama!

Harajuku is by far the cutest little neighborhood in Tokyo! I could come back and hang out here every day! Hope you’re all having a great week! 🙂

Top 5: FACE SPRAYS & SKIN MISTS

Facial sprays & skin mists are a must on my beauty counter. I love using various mists to keep my skin hydrated as well as my makeup in place; I can’t go a day without them! There are definitely a lot of options out there that vary in strength and purpose. Below, I’ve shared some all time favorites as well as amazing holy grail dupes!

Urban Decay is synonymous with Setting Sprays in the world of face mists. Their All Nigher Makeup Setting Spray is a tried and true cult favorite that I personally used for years. It keeps your makeup locked in and in place, exactly where you want it. I recently switched to this Cooling & Hydrating version call the Chill Makeup Setting Spray and found that it works amazingly at setting my makeup while keeping it hydrated and preventing any cake-ness!

L’Oreal’s Infallible Pro-Spray and Makeup Extender is a fantastic drugstore option to set your makeup look. Retailing for only ~$12, it contains many similar ingredients as UD’s while being a bit more price conscious and still keeping all that hard work you put into your face, in place!

This Glow Refresh Vitamin C Mist by Lumene is the best all around mist. You can use it within your skincare routine to prep before applying a serum, you can use it before you apply out your foundation to help blend it out or you can use it after you’ve had your makeup on a while and need a pick-me-up! It contains Vitamin C to promote radiance and hydration and feels so refreshing to use throughout the day.

Makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic helped launch TATCHA’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist into social media fame by mentioning that he uses it on Kim Kardashian to get that gorgeous glow. Wow, did it blow away my expectations! When you want that JLo natural glow, this is your spray! It is a luxury line so it’s on the pricier side but this mist does not disappoint. Since I have oily skin, I prefer not to use it after my makeup but before I apply it. Not only does it feel amazing, it blends out your makeup like a dream and gives such a gorgeous glow from within!

If you’d like a similar effect without paying an arm and a leg, I’ve been head over heels for Pixi’s Hydrating Milky Mist! It’s second ingredient is Glycerin, just like the aforementioned luxury spray, and at only $15 it’s an amazing dupe! It does an incredible job at blending out your foundation and helping your makeup look really meld together. I’m usually the type to always buy unscented products but this mist really smells so incredibly good! I love it so much, I have multiple bottles around our apartment to make sure it’s always reachable when I need it!

I still can’t believe we’re on our way to TOKYO! We’re so excited for this trip – though it’s bittersweet since we’ll be missing New York Fashion Week. This will be my first time missing this NYFW season in 6 years, so to say I’m having FOMO is an understatement but I just couldn’t pass this opportunity up! We’ll definitely be back next season (well, unless another awesome trip comes up that we can’t miss lol) but you can see some of my past Fashion Week coverage here. Chris and I have actually been talking about visiting Tokyo since we first met, over 10 years ago. It was the very first destination we talked about traveling to, but something would always come up or another destination would be prioritized. We are both so elated to finally get to go!

Now, what better companions to travel to one of the most technologically advanced countries with than Raden, an incredibly innovative luggage company that’s transforming the travel world! Not only are the designs chic, modern and luxurious (& at a great price point!) but they are efficient, light and impressively durable! The shell is made of a very flexible and strong Makrolon Polycarbonate, with waterproof sealing and built in TSA approved locks. The wheels are polyurethane spinners making for a smooth ride that you can roll tilted or standing. The technology has got to be my favorite thing as there are 2 built-in chargers that can charge your device to full 3x with its two USB ports. There’s also an integrated scale that connects to their iOS app and not only tells you how much it weighs but where your luggage is via bluetooth! Oh and even better – they’re also shipped free, well packaged with dust bags. Overall, I really love the luggage set but here’s my list of pros & cons if you’re in the market for luggage:

    Pros:

    Sleek design
    Strong polycarbonate shell
Spinner wheels that roll very smoothly
    Built-in charger with USBs
    Built-in Scale
    Super cute color selection

    Cons:

Shell gets staticky & easily attracts dust
    App can be glitchy
