Happy Tuesday, everyone! I thought I’d start a new series here on my blog called Top 5 Tuesday’s where I’ll share my top 5 favorites in various categories. First things first, when it comes to skincare, I think it’s important to share details about me and my SKIN TYPE: I’m 31 years old and have dehydrated, oily, sensitive skin. I also have eczema, contact dermatitis and I’m allergic to Lanolin, a common skincare ingredient.
My skin was having some major issues last month, if you watched my last tutorial, you’ll see I had a few aggressive cystic acne breakouts and just overall sensitivity. Because of this, I cranked up my serum game and found a few that I absolutely love and wanted to share with you all! Since my skin is dehydrated, I tend to overproduce oil throughout the day as my body naturally tries to correct the dehydration. To combat this, most of my skincare products revolve around hydration and contain hyaluronic acid and collagen. Follow along below for details on each and why they’re my favorites!
Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Hyaluronic Essence The very first time I tested this on my wrist, I fell in love. My skin immediately soaked it all up like a refreshing ice cold glass of water! It is a super concentrated miracle water “essence” formulated with two different types of Hyaluronic Acid, wild Arctic Cloudberry, and Vitamin C. It’s actually more of a pre-serum that hydrates your skin, preparing it to receive all the amazing benefits of serums (think of how steam works during a facial, hydrating your skin and refreshing your pores so that serums can better infuse into the skin). I’ve been using this religiously since February this year. When I’m not applying it all over my face, I like to concentrate it on my forehead fine lines, around my eyes or on my lips when they’re feeling chapped! I love that it doesn’t feel like a product being put on top of your skin, but rather, it immediately penetrates and soaks in, making your skin feel more plump and healthy!
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster Many people will tell you that serums are meant to be used at night. While this is the case for a lot of the serums on the market, it’s not across the board. This Truth Serum by Ole Henriksen is meant to be used in the morning because it’s enriched with green tea extract and sodium hyaluronate to penetrate deep into the skin and deliver antioxidant protection and essential hydration. It contains proprietary 5-source Vitamin C Complex that helps prevent further damage and defends skin from environmental aggressors and free radical damage. I apply it daily before my moisturizer and love how firm it makes my skin feel in the morning!
Kate Somerville KateCeuticals Contouring Eye Serum This lightweight serum is actually formulated for your eyes to counteract visible signs of aging and of course, hydrate and smooth the skin around your eye area. True to Kate Somerville’s style, it contains concentrated bioactives at the recommended clinical percentage for maximum efficacy. I’ve been using it nightly – it’s meant to be used before your eye cream and is infused with anti-wrinkle peptides as well as purified microalgae extract to tighten and plump!
Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber De-Tox Hydrating Serum I use this serum every night and I love how calming and relaxing it feels when I apply it to my skin. It contains 78% ultra-concentrated complex of Cucumber Extract that detoxifies irritants and soothes your skin as well as hyaluronic acid to hydrate and restore moisture levels. It’s quick absorbing and immediately makes your skin feel calm and hydrated. I like pairing it with their Cucumber De-Tox Bouncy Hydrating Gel moisturizer before bed!
KORRES Golden Krocus Ageless Saffron Elixir Serum This is a newer serum that I recently added to my skincare routine. It is a golden elixir that is infused with hand-picked, fresh Greek saffron to help correct visible signs of aging. It also contains a complex of peptides, amino acids, polysaccharides, copper and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid to penetrate the skin and visibly firm, brighten and lift skin while reducing the appearance of wrinkles. I love that it makes my skin look bright and even seems to make it glow!
Happy SUNDAY FUN DAY everyone! 🙂 I’m super excited to be taking over Charming Charlie’s Snapchat today! Follow along @CHARM_CHARLIE on Snapchat as I take you all shopping with me at the Charming Charlie store!
Happy Friday, everyone! 😀 This was one of the looks I wore during our Beverly Wilshire staycation last week. I loved this dress by Amour Vert – not only is it so romantic, beautifully fresh and timeless but it’s also made by a brand I adore! Amour Vert means “green love” and true to their namesake, they have a zero-waste philosophy and use low-impact dyes. They’re also American made!
Although we’re currently in Vegas 😉 Chris and I enjoyed an amazing little staycation at Beverly Wilshire Beverly Hills a Four Seasons Hotel and an amazing dinner at CUT Steakhouse by Chef Wolfgang Puck last week and I wanted to share it all with you guys! We started off our day with a 60 minute couples massages. If you follow me on SnapChat, you know that we regularly indulge in massages (it’s our favorite healthy treat to relieve stress) – I always go for the Swedish because I prefer a more relaxing experience, while Chris always opts for the Deep Tissue/Sports Massage to help his muscles recover from the intense fitness regimen he’s on. We decided to get the same at Beverly Wilshire’s Spa and wow, did they blow us away! The spa itself was stunning, beautiful, bright and so very intimate. I loved the lounge where they offered water, tea and fresh fruits. The massage therapists were highly skilled (they found knots in places I didn’t even realize I had lol!) and we left the spa feeling rejuvenated and fresh! We spent a good portion of the day unwinding and relaxing by the pool with a nice bottle of rosé in our own private cabana. We ordered their delicious Lobster Roll, Lobster & Shrimp Cocktail and Truffle Fries for lunch – but they also surprised us with an epic fruit, chocolate and macaron spread, below! After soaking up that beautiful Beverly Hills sun, we got ready for dinner at CUT Steakhouse. We enjoyed some tasty amuse bouche and ordered their Bone Marrow Flan appetizer – the chef extracts the bone marrow and creates a custard with it that he then puts back in the bone to cook. Served with a mushroom marmalade, parsley salad and toast points, it was so decadent! We indulged in their best steaks, the Japanese Pure Wagyu Beef Miyazaki Prefecture – I ordered 6 oz of the New York Sirloin and Chris had 12 oz of the Rib Eye with the sautéed kale and summer squash on the side. Both were absolutely divine! We finished off our meal with their adorable Baked Alaska dessert.
