Finding a chic outfit to wear for NYFW during Winter is always an uphill battle. Although I attend Fashion Week regularly (every September) I’d only been once before for Fall/Winter so it was a nerve-wracking process to plan outfits and pack. I knew it was going to be cold (last time I went, it was after a blizzard and as low as 17°!) and I knew the warmest coat I own is probably The Waverly from Dawn Levy so they were my first go-to! After browsing the sight, I spotted this gorgeous coat – The Paige. I love the edgy vibe with its leather lace up detailing on the sides and sleeves and the quilting was stunning! To top it off, the design combines a leather biker jacket and vest into a winter coat which can be detached making it perfect to travel – 3 looks in one! Especially since I was heading to Spain right after (I’m currently in Barcelona!). The first show I attended was BCBGMaxazria and it started early in the morning so I paired the coat with my favorite pair of Joe’s Jeans (layered over tights!) and my go-to lace up boots by Ted & Muffy.

Valentine’s day is less than a week away! Since it happens to fall on a Sunday this year, we’re sharing a chic brunch/daytime Valentine’s outfit idea! This dress is so perfectly elegant with a feminine, form fitting silhouette. I paired it with a sexy pair of strappy nude sandals but layered a heavy wool coat over it to balance the ensemble. On a side note: this bag I’m carrying was the first designer bag Chris ever bought me – 10 years ago! It was early on when we first started dating and Louis Vuitton had just announced it would be releasing a new Damier colorway, the Azur. I was smitten with it and every time we were at the mall (who am I kidding, I was at San Diego’s Fashion Valley Mall all the time), I’d want to stop in the Louis Vuitton store to drool over the display bags and ask about the release. Well, the day the Damier Azur print was available, we were of course at the mall and I did the usual, “Do you mind if we pop in just to look?” Chris obliged and we waltzed right in. I asked if I could see the new bag just to get an idea of what it looked like in real life when Chris interrupted me and said, “Actually, you should ask them, they might have one for you.” I just froze – partially out of confusion and partially out of just sheer shock lol! The sales associate didn’t even hesitate as Chris told her the name on the order, she walked into the back area and came out with a beautiful wrapped box and handed it to me. I was so giddy – smiling from ear to ear! Such an incredibly romantic and thoughtful surprise! Ten years ago and it still feels like yesterday 🙂 I felt so nostalgic carrying it again & perfect for Valentines! What are you planning to wear?

The Kate Somerville Clinic’s DermaLucent Facial

Last week, I had the unique opportunity of visiting the celebrity favorite, Kate Somerville Clinic for a facial, and not just any facial but the DermaLucent Renew Red Facial! The clinic is located on Melrose Place in West Hollywood in a stunning townhouse that happens to be Johnny Depp’s former residence. No big deal, right? 🙂 This wasn’t my first time there yet it still makes me squeal like a little girl just thinking about it! I mean, Johnny Depp?! I also found out that Sean Connery (!!!!!) lived there even longer, before Johnny …but I digress… Kate Somerville has worked with some of my favorite celebrities like Kate Hudson, Lea Michele, Jessica Alba, Kristen Bell, Debra Messing, Anna Paquin & Olivia Wilde – just to name a few! During this visit, I also got to meet Kate and I must say, she’s incredibly personable and so down to earth, such an inspiration! You can just feel how passionate she is about what she does and to top it off, she was so easy to talk to and just a breath of fresh air! I absolutely adore her and love her brand even more now! Plus, she and her husband, Landa gave Chris and I some amazing restaurant recommendations – which you guys know is the key to my heart 😉

How to Find Your Wedding Dress with Stella York!

With Engagement Season in full effect (and Wedding Season is right around the corner!) a HUGE portion of my friends and family are newly engaged and of course, one of the first discussion topics we always have is… THE DRESS! Aussie fashion labels have quickly became some of our favorite go-to brands so it’s no surprise that when it comes to wedding dresses, Australian brand Stella York (the sister label to Essense of Australia), has become one of the fastest growing companies in the bridal design industry! Their bridal dresses are each handcrafted with incredibly detailed beading, luxurious laces, and whimsical fabrics. I browsed through the collection at J. Birds Bridal, my local bridal boutique. From Cinderella gowns to form-fitting dresses to styles with sexy low backs and romantic sweetheart necklines, there really is a unique style available for everyone. The Stella York designers brought an extra level of excitement to their newest collection with a fun focus on lace which I absolutely loved! From linear lace creating sophisticated patterns, to graphic lace making a bold statement, and, of course, the classic, romantic lace brides know and love, there is something for every lace lover. Stella York’s designers also added an extra level of sparkle and glam with intricate beaded embellishments and fanciful tulle creating a collection with everything from classic and romantic styles to red-carpet inspired gowns which were all pulling at my heart strings! Seeing the collection, I couldn’t help but reminisce of our own wedding, 5 years ago and the search for the right dress. It almost (okay, instantly) made me want to play dress up again!

My brother is engaged and his fiancé recently asked me to be in her bridal party so I’m SO EXCITED to see what we’ll be wearing but most of all, what she’ll be wearing! Some of my favorite tips for wedding dress shopping are:

Don’t be afraid of love at first sight! I ended up choosing the very first dress I tried on and so many of my friends have done the same! It’s not always too good to be true 😉 that very first dress you put on that instantly took your breath away, could very well be – The One.
Keep your portrait in mind! One thing is for sure – you’ll be photographed more than you ever imagined on your wedding day (no really, however many photos you think will be taken of you, triple it!). Although a beautiful train, bustle and cute shoes are important, your neckline and the upper half of your dress is what will make it into almost every photo of you so make sure you love how it looks!
Choose the dress YOU love! This sounds incredibly obvious until you actually go dress shopping with your squad and everyone has a different opinion. Getting your Mother, sister(s) and your friends all to agree on what dress looks best on you can be quite the feat on its own. Just remember, this is YOUR dress to wear when YOU walk down that aisle so at the end of the day, go with what YOU love.
