Girly Gladiator

It’s no secret that gladiators are the go-to sandals this summer and despite the tan line risks and physical labor it takes to get them on 😉 I still find myself happily lacing them up on a regular basis. I loved this pair from Shoedazzle so much that I got them in tan, too! The wedge makes them super comfortable while still giving me the height I need – plus the straps can be adjusted to any calf width making it perfect for every shape/size! I love pairing mine with an ultra girly look like these flirty flared shorts and sheer mohair sweater. It’s been brutally warm here in LA the past couple weeks so I took advantage of the moisture wicking fabric of this adorable Fabletics bodysuit, literally taking fitness style to the street! Plus since it’s workout wear, it already has a built-in sports bra making it even MORE comfortable to wear out! I love its whimsical pale pink floral print – it’s seriously such a versatile piece. I was originally planning to wear it with boyfriend jeans but it paired effortlessly with shorts and I can see myself twirling around wearing it with a midi-skirt, too!

Obviously appropriate but not blatantly patriotic. We actually shot this look a couple weeks ago and I just happened to be edited it this week when I realized Saturday (tomorrow) is the 4th of July! That worked out well now didn’t it? I can definitely see myself wearing something like this to… duh… brunch (because you guys know by now that brunch is all I dress for lol) or maybe the office if your work environment allows for it – not so much for me, I don’t think I could get away with shorts this short in the corporate environment but if you can, rock it! If I had work today (thankfully, we’re off!) I would wear this with a pencil skirt or skinny slacks instead for a chic, professional yet festive vibe.

Chris and I met in May of 2006, and made it official as boyfriend & girlfriend this month, 9 years ago! Even though we’re married now, we still always celebrate our dating anniversary too so I wanted to find an extra special card. I made a beeline for the Hallmark Signature card aisle and believe it or not, this was the very first card I picked up! Of course, I still read all of the other anniversary cards in the section just in case because I absolutely adored all the fun embellishments Hallmark Signature used and sweet messages the cards read, but I never put this one down and still ended up coming back to it. Reading it made my heart skip a beat – this one was just absolutely perfect! The outside says, “The thing I love most about my life is who I share it with” on a gorgeous piece of wood that can (and definitely will) be used as decor and the inside reads, “I knew I’d love you forever… I just didn’t know it would be quite this much fun.” It describes our relationship to a T!! The adorable wood design was so whimsical to me and reminded me of one of our first dates at Balboa Park in San Diego or my favorite celebration destination, Disneyland. It made me think of carving our initials into a tree (something we’ve never done, but I always thought was so cute!) and the wood just really feels warm and welcoming – how love should be! I styled this outfit with both of these in mind for a romantic picnic or fun day at an amusement park! My woven hat plays off of the wood texture theme and my outfit silhouette is fun, flirty and romantic – perfect for a fun outdoor date! I leaned more towards the primary colors for my outfit because there’s just something so sweet and lovey-dovey about a true bold red, golden yellows and handsome blues.

Updated Bag & Shoe Closet

It’s been a few years since I shared my shoe closet with you guys and wow has it changed (i.e. GROWN)! Chris actually built and installed this for me for my birthday this past April and since today’s his birthday, I thought I should finally get around to sharing it. Well, not that it has anything to do with his birthday but I guess it’s sort of fitting 😉 lol … anyway, obviously we expanded it (or ripped out my old one and put this new one in) but it’s now more than double the size with additional shelves for my bags.

After a little debating of whether or not I should coordinate my shoes by styles, brands, trends or heel height, I decided to stick with organizing them by color.

I didn’t want my black shoes to darken the room so I kept them farther to the left near the window. I kept the pairs that I wear most frequently towards the center for easy access and since it’s Summer, those ended up being primarily sandals.

I put all my colorful shoes in the center and organized them in the same color order as the rainbow or as close as possible which looks the most aesthetically pleasing.

My neutral nudes are on the far right which is the easiest to access and naturally, the colors I wear most!

Going from dark to light really helps open up our bedroom more!

We have a lot of dark/black picture frames so to add some fun to them, I used the camellia flowers that Chanel stores sometimes put on some of their packaging onto the frames for a cute & fancy Chanel feel! *Chanel typically only decorates packaging with these camellias when you purchase a Classic bag but I’ve gotten lucky with some really sweet SAs!

For my bags… well, let’s be real. This doesn’t normally look this styled! They’re usually just displayed side by side but I couldn’t help but have a little fun styling the shelves for this post! I actually normally have them organized by brands, Chanel on the top left, Gucci and Dior in the middle sections, Louis Vuitton towards the bottom (because they’re bigger) and my only Hermes (so far!) on the top right. These also aren’t all my bags obviously but these were what I had nearby when I was cleaning/organizing this!

Chris and I are both coffee table book hoarders and have our fair share of themed collections so I love using my fashion/designer books to elevate and add more depth and dimension to my shelves. I love including statement shoes as decor so they get a little more attention and appreciation even if I don’t wear them as often as I’d like!

Obviously my lipstick isn’t usually open 😉 but colorful lip glosses and nail polishes are a great way to add pops of color to your decor, especially when they’re in pretty packaging.
